Profiles In Courage High School $10,000 Essay Contest Announed


Complete contest information for the Profile in Courage Essay Contest for high school students is available at jfklibrary.org 

 High school teachers are encouraged to invite their students  to write an original essay on an act of political courage by a U.S elected official who served during or after 1956.

 The 35th President of the United States wrote the Pulitzer Prize-winning book as a Senator in 1957. He himself was awarded the the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for his courageous conduct as commanding officer of the PT 109 torpedo boat in World War II in the Pacific after the boat's collision with a Japanese destroyer in the Solomon Islands on  August 1, 1943.

The book is available at the Niles Public Library and its availability  can be ascertained by checking the library's catalog .
