Andrew Nelles Comments on His Afghan Experience and the Library Exhibition
“It was very intense experience in every way you can imagine,” said Nelles in a phone interview. “During my time over there, a lot of the units I worked with embedded with the Afghan Army and police. There were a lot of Afghan soldiers working alongside the American that were well-trained and disciplined and some that were not. It was interesting to see the spectrum of that.
“I hope that by viewing the work, I can give the person viewing the work a better insight what the daily life is like for the people involved in this war.”
Mr. Nelles's description appears in the latest issue of the Niles Herald Spectator in an article written by Gail Saunders and also quotes library marketing director, Sue Wilsey on the library's renovation and the Franklin Gallery.
Mr. Nelles will continue to display his photos through the end of March on the 3rd Floor North of the Niles Public Library, located at 6960 W. Oakton St. Library hours are: Monday through Thursday, 9 - 9; Friday, 9-7; Saturday 9-5, and Sunday, 1-5pm.
